Competition weekend 1st/2nd/3rd November

This has been the busiest weekend for Coalville with competitions. However it has also been a very successful one as well.

Friday 1st November
Podium Training
Guildford

On Friday we had 3 gymnasts down in the Guildford Spectrum having a training session in the competition venue. The level 4′s went first the team consisted of Coalville’s Madison Jurkowski and Mae Wilkinson, they were also joined by Isla Lees, Ramiyah Kofi and Isobella Wilcocks (Notts) for all of the girls this was a brilliant experience for them as it was the first time in the spectrum. The girls managed to go through their routines and got a good feel of the apparatus.

Level 3 was next with Coalville’s Madison Newell and team mates Paige Vick, Caitlin Williams and Scarlett Williams. All of the girls worked really well together ensuring they all got the time they needed on the apparatus. This will be the girls last voluntary team event together.

Saturday 2nd November
Level 3 National Final
Guildford

Madison competed in the 3rd round on Saturday and after a not so well morning she was first on all pieces apart from beam. She performed a beautiful floor routine followed by a powerful vault scoring 2nd highest in the East Midlands team behind team mate Paige Vick, she swung the bars nicely scoring 2 marks more then what she did in regional’s. On the beam after a long wait she did experience a fall from her acro series however carried on sticking her standing tuck back. Madison placed 44th with a combined score of 89.875 and giving her a GB national ranking of 26th.

Sunday 3rd November
Level 4 National Final
Guildford

Mae and Madison both started on the floor Madison performed a beautifully danced routine with good leaps and tumbles throughout. Mae produced some of her highest tumbles that she has ever delivered making her sparkle on the floor. The girls were separated by 0.1 after this piece. Moving on to vault the girls both performed the handspring vault both performing them nicely. Moving to bars the girls both performed clean bar routines showing high casts on the high bar and nice fluidity throughout. On the beam Mae went through her full routine with no falls which was brilliant, Madison experienced one fall on her spin however stuck her acro series so finished on a high. Mae came 39th with a combined score of 99.35 and giving her a GB national ranking of 39th. Madison came 52nd. Brilliant work from both girls.

Sunday 3rd November
Club Teams
Leicester

Coalville had an a large amount of gymnasts competing in this competition. Level 5- Coalville A team consisted of Scarlett Sharpe, Sophie Lees, Megan Braithwaite and Maisie Axton. Coalville B team consisted of Rose Watson, Dalila Watson, Amber Jones and Hannah Knox. Coalville C team consisted of Hannah McNamara, Emily Price, Madeline Wall and Jessica Pole and finally the Coalville A team consisted of Lottie Pinchess, Eden Dickens, Holly Howard and Maisy Gardener. All of the level 5 teams sparkled with gymnasts achieving personal goals for example upstarts on the bars, tuck backs on the floor, sticking a beam routine and more. Unfortunately on the last piece Megan Braithwaite came into grief on her bar dismount landing in a way in which we as coaches and the judges thought it was necessary to call the ambulance service. Luckily Megan is fine :) which was good news all around. The Coalville D team placed 1st in the competition and the Coalville B team 2nd, Coalville A came 5th and Coalville C team came 6th.

Our level 4 team consisted of Abigail Barham, Danielle Wattie, Julia Allford and Hannah Betts For Abigail this was her first time at competing at level 4 so was a good competition for her. On beam the girls did come to grief at their acro series either not sticking them or not linking them however Hannah, Julia and Abi all got through clean routines, on the floor girls really did show off their dance skills along with Hannah’s twist the girls were in good standing. All gymnasts performed a half on half off giving them all the same start value and on bars only experiencing one fall and Danielle’s giants the team were looking strong. The Level 4 team won the competition! this was brilliant for the girls.

Senior team, our team consisted of Honor Dickens, Ebony Birt, Charlotte Abell, Sophie Winfield and Madison Newell. As Madison had only competed the day before in a different level she only competed on beam and floor. The girls started on bars, both Ebony and Charlotte had very uncharacteristic falls on the low bar however finished off strongly Honor and Sophie both produced well flowing routines. On beam Ebony, Sophie and Charlotte went through cleanly where Honor and Madison experienced a fall however it did not kill the team spirit. The girls went to floor all performing out of their skins Ebony rocketed through the roof with her double twist Charotte, Honor and Madison all produced clean full twists and Sophie performed her 1.5 twist for the first time and landed it brilliantly. On Vault Ebony nailed her tsuk Honor and Sophie both performed clean half on half off’s. The senior team placed 2nd.
