A Round-Up Of 2013

2013 for Coalville Gymnastics Club has again been a very successful one! Not just for the gymnasts, coaches and judges as well!

This year we have brought back many medals regionally and at county levels as well. Throughout all competitions the girls have achieved personal goals of their own of competing new skills, moving up in results, scoring their highest on a piece and more.

This year has also shown our highest number of national finalist’s throughout the year! For grades we had 5 gymnasts 4 of which compete in Birmingham (Ebony Birt, Layla Joachim, Madison Newell, Mae Wilkinson, Sophie Winfeild (reserve))  and for levels we had 3 gymnasts compete in Guildford (Madison Newell, Mae Wilkinson and Madison Jurkowski.) Due to Madison Newell and Mae Wilkinson competing in Birmingham they both received a national ranking ! Madison ranked 26th for level 3 age 10 and Mae is ranked 39th for level 4 age 9.

During many team events Coalville have brought back a lot of success at competitions as a club we have brought home a lot medals this year ! This is an amazing achievement for all gymnasts. Through the success at competitions we had 3 gymnasts picked for the regional county teams for Leicestershire, Ebony Birt, Charlotte Abell and Sophie Winfield. This was brilliant for the girls to show that they stand out in the county in order to be picked for the team.

The girls have performed lots of new skills this year in competition from round off flick to a double back on the floor. The beam has shown a good increase in moves as well from new acro skills such as backward walkovers, tuck back saltos, and new series of acros either backward walkover flick or flick flick this is a great improvement for the girls. On vault we have seen tsukahara’s half on half offs and handsprings for the first time also. Finally on bars we have seen upstarts for the first time, giants, mo-shoots and backaways ! all of these skills the girls work session in session out to make sure they are competition ready and make sure they look the best when performing them.

Our squads are growing and growing!! :) Starting at our development gymnasts starting at the age of 5 up to our senior gymnasts at the age of 14 we have got 63 gymnasts within the squad which is brilliant growth for Coalville and each year we keep building on this trying to increase this number each year!

More success for the club is our coaches getting higher qualifications ! Katie Steele achieved her level 4 senior performance coach, Karen Edwards passed her practical level 4 senior performance coach and her theory is pending, Laura Hewitt achieved her level 2 coach also! This is brilliant news for Coalville to get more coaches higher qualified to bring the club more success with the gymnasts.

On the judging side we have Katherine Boden (Brand) passed her brevet judging exam, June Edwards, Karen Edwards and Judith Brand all passed their national judging exam and Linda Thompson passed her regional judging exam also. This is brilliant for the club to have these qualified judges within our club.

We would like to thank you for following Coalville on the updates that we supply throughout the year and continuous support from people ! We hope to continue upwards with our success for 2014!

For now we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!
