Grades 2015

The grades are split into two different weekends to make the days more manageable with the large amount of participants for each grade.. 

 

Regional Grade 5

The girls started on bars showing strength routines and good momentum with big swings this routine shows the judges the basics done correctly both finishing with a dead landing after their straddle on undershoot dismount Ella scored 11.667 and Alia scored 12.533 this was a great start for the girls. Next was onto the dreaded beam showing different jumps and split handstands control was needed throughout the girls routines and they certainly both showed that they had that hardly a wobble in sight and strong landings, Ella scored 12.5 and Alia scored 13.25 again very high scores for the girls. 3rd piece was floor where they both have the same routine with different flourishes in them Ella danced her way through her routine showing beautiful leaps scoring 11.6 Alia went through cleanly working hard on her dance and showing her flexibility throughout scoring 12.4.  Moving on to range and conditioning this routine shows strength, flexibility and control throughout Ella went through her routine scoring 11.9 Alia worked to her strengths during this routine scoring a very impressive 13.5 out of a possible 14! Finally onto vault where the girls had to show their power performing a handspring flat back which they both did well Ella scored 12.6 and Alia scored 13. Both of the girls had a superb competition both going clean throughout Ella placed 12th  and Alia took the regional title coming 1st. Massive well done girls and coaches. 

Compulsory 5

This year we had our largest amount of compulsory 5 competitors. Charley Kirk, Ruby Smith and Brogan Hardwick. This was the girls first competition outside of the gym club making it slightly nerve racking for them. Starting on beam the girls had to show different skills as well as a tricky split handstand into backward walkover.Ruby scored 12.2 Brogan scored 10.6 and Charley scored 10.35 All girls went through their routines without a flicker ! This was a big achievement in itself for the girls. Moving on to floor the girls got to show case their floor routines performing leaps, jumps, round of flicks and handsprings. They all wowed the crowed with their dancing and tumbling. Ruby scored 12.85 Brogan scored 12.050 and Charley scored 12.1. Onto range and conditioning the girls all showed they were stable throughout the routine which pushes flexibility and strength throughout the girls kept their cool throughout their routines finishing the routine all with smiles Ruby scored 12.233 Brogan scored 12 and Charley scored 11.233. Next the girls were onto vault showing a handstand hop flat back which is a tricky vault to keep under control. Brogan’s first vault was not from the book as she made a mistake on the board however although she was upset she showed what a tough cookie she was brushed herself off and then went down and did a fabulous vault scoring 12.167 Ruby performed two nice and clean vaults with nice and strong hops on the vault scoring 12.533 Charley’s first vault went to plan and did a nice and powerful vault her second vault run up did not go to plan and unfortunately neither did her vault but like Brogan she showed how mature she is as a gymnast and shook it off Charley scored 12. Moving onto bars which was their final piece they were doing their routine on a metal bar the girls need to showcase strength and the ability to swing well, all the girls did this performing a nice and smooth bar routine. Ruby scored 12.867 Brogan scored 12.733 and Charley scored 12.633. All the girls did a fabulous job in their first competition and all took it in their stride. Ruby scored 62.683 placing her 2nd Brogan scored 59.55 placing 4th and Charley scored 58.317 placing 6th Excellent result girls. 

Compulsory 4

We had one gymnast in this grade Evie Axton, Evie only had 4 weeks to prepare for this grade as unfortunately she has experienced a bad wrist injury since November so doing this competition was a bonus for her. Starting on beam Evie had to show split leaps and jumps along with a tricky backward walkover circle arms into flick which she nailed showing a nice steady routine Evie scored 10.65. Moving on onto floor Evie had to show leaps and two tumble runs unfortunately she struggled to find her hands on her dive roll however this did not stop her showing off her new floor routine scoring 9.6. Onto range which we knew would be a struggle for Evie with her wrist injury and most of this routine being on her hands, she fought all the way through her routine showing the strength she had even in some dicey areas she managed to show all of her holds and get through her routine without falling Evie scored 10.8. Moving onto her best piece which is vault Evie performed a nice and powerful straight front scoring her 12.033. Finally onto bars due to her injury she had not spent a large amount of time on this piece however she worked hard and got through her routine scoring 9.933. This gave Evie a total of 53.017 beating the pass mark meaning she passed her grade! Evie placed 6th Well done Evie. 

National 4 In Age

We only had one gymnast in this category of national 4 which was Isabel Morgan. Starting on beam she performed a lovely clean routine with only small corrections throughout showing lovely splits throughout and a well controlled backward walkover Isabel scored 12.85. Moving onto floor although Isabel is small she produces powerful tumbles which she found tricky to control at the end of each one. Showing off nice dance and leaps throughout Isabel scored 11.3. On to range and conditioning this is Isabel’s stronger area and she showed control throughout scoring an impressive 13.133. Onto vault her first vault went to plan performing a nice and powerful handspring her second vault she could not quite get her run up right and after two run attempts that was enough for her Isabel scored 12.8. Finally moving onto bars this is a strong piece for Isabel showing off giants on the metal bar Isabel scored 13.267 giving her a total of 63.35 placing her 2nd also giving her a place in the East Midlands national team (The team goes on the results of in age and out of age) Well done Isabel. 

National 4 Out of Age

We had two gymnasts in this section both competing against Isabel to have a chance at the national team. Daisy Greaves and Hannah Betts. Both starting on beam Daisy went through a nice clean routine with only a slight wobble here and their and a bit smile to finish Daisy scored 11.45 Hannah experienced a few problems with her beam routine and it did not all go to plan however she shook it off and finished off her routine and nailed her dismount scoring 8.95. Moving onto floor both girls danced their way through their routines showing off good height in their tumbles and nice leaps throughout Daisy scored 11.6 and Hannah scored 11.45. Onto range and conditioning the girls both went through the best routines they could have possibly done holding where they need to hold Daisy scored 12.733 and Hannah scored 12.433. Onto vault the girls had handsprings to show which they both did really well showing good push off the top and only small steps on landings Daisy scored 12.867 and Hannah scored 12.533. Finally onto bars again both girls showed off their nice shapes on the metal bar during their giants Daisy scored 12.667 and Hannah scored 12.233. This was a good day for the girls Daisy scored a total of 61.317 placing 3rd combined with the in age scores Daisy came 5th making her the national 4 reserve. Well done Daisy. Hannah scored 57.6 placing 14th. This was a great result well done Hannah, all girls at national 4 passed ! Well done girls. 

National 3 In Age 

We had two girls competing in this competition age group Mae Wilkinson and Madison Jurkwoski. Starting on beam the girls have to perform a very dicey forward walkover which is proven difficult however they both nailed it with only a flicker at the end showing off a nice flick and nice leaps the girls both went through cleanly Mae scored 11.3 and Madison scored 11.65. Onto floor both the girls had new routines to show off which they did Madison showed off some sky high tumbles, Mae showed us beautiful leaps and powerful tumbles. Mae scored 11.05 Madison scored 10.65.  Moving onto range and conditioning this is a tricky place for Madison as her previous wrist injury had fired up again and causing her a lot of pain, this did unfortunately show in her routine and she did experience a fall however she gritted her teeth throughout the rest and finished with 10.433 Mae showed her strength and flexibility and did a lovely routine scoring 12.633. Moving onto vault the girls both performed half on to stand drop back both girls showed how powerful they are Mae scored 12.9 and Madison scored 12.7. Finally onto bars the girls had to perform a routine with giants which they did Madison fought hard on top of the bar in her handstand finishing off with a lovely high backaway scoring her 12.767. Mae went through cleanly with a straddle on undershoot dismount scoring her 12.567. Both girls had a good day Madison battled through the pain scoring a total of 58.2 placing 5th Mae full of cold coughing all day scored 60.45 placing 2nd and giving her a spot on the East Midlands team for National 3. Well done girls 

 National 3 Out of Age 

We only had one competitor in this age group Julia Allford. Starting on beam Julia started strong however came to grief with the dreaded forward walkover however she shook it off and carried on finishing her routine with a smile Julia scored 9.2 Moving onto floor Julia had a lot of hurdles to cross during this floor routine starting off strong she over cooked her handspring front and did not manage her turn from her backward roll however she did manage to land her free cartwheel and finished her routine a little bit upset however she did not let it get to her. Julia scored 9.7 Moving onto range and conditioning Julia composed herself throughout her routine and got through it all well scoring 11.367 put a smile back on her face. Onto vault Julia performed a nice powerful vault scoring 12.633. Finally onto bar this has been Julia’s weak point however she got through her bar routine with only a stop on high bar scoring 11.267. This was a good day for Julia scoring a total of 54.167 and placing 8th all national 3 girls passed, well done girls.

National 2 In Age

In this age group we had two competitors Madison Newell and Emily Pike. Starting on beam the girls had a tricky combination of a forward walkover into cartwheel which they both performed well and was a big high point for the girls Madison scored 10.65 and Emily scored 10.25 this was a good start for the girls. Moving onto floor the girls had 3 tumbles to show including a twist they both did well Madison scored 10.05 and Emily scored 10.35 this was a good piece for the girls showing off what they can do. Moving onto Range Madison showed off her flexibility throughout her routine finishing nicely with 12.167 and Emily showed her strength throughout scoring 11.267 these were very good scores for the girls. Onto vault the girls had to preform a tsuk prep in a straight position which they both did well Madison scored 11.867 and Emily scored 12.2 Finally onto bars, the girls routine consisted of handstands, shortclears, giants and back aways Emily showed off her swing for the bars scoring 11.567 and Madison battled her demon’s getting through her bar routine and scoring 11.167. Both the girls had a clean competition Madison scored 55.9 placing 2nd. Emily scored 55.633 placing 3rd. Combined with out of age Madison placed 7th and Emily placed 8th. 

National 2 Out of Age 

We had two competitors in this age category, Sophie Winfield. and Danielle Wattie. Starting on beam Sophie combined her forward walkover into cartwheel fine, slight wobble on her leaps however finished off strongly scoring 11.0 Danielle did experience some troubles on beam with the tricky combinations that she had to perform scoring 9.25. Moving on to floor Sophie danced her way through her routine with powerful tumbles scoring 10.35 Danielle went through cleanly showing off nice tumbles scoring 10.05 moving onto range this is  strong area for Sophie showing off her strength and flexibility a very confident routine scored 12.667. Danielle went through a very nice routine with beautiful legs throughout her routine scoring 11.5, onto vault Sophie performed a powerful tsuk prep scoring 12.367. Danielle followed suit nice and powerful scoring 12.267. Finally onto bars Sophie showed lovely shapes throughout her bar routine and a nailed landing from her backaway scoring 11.833 Danielle got through her routines working hard on her legs throughout scoring 11.1 Sophie scored a total of 58.217 placing her 4th and giving her a spot on the national 2 team. Danielle scored a total of 54.167 and placed 11th, all of the national 2′s passed their grade well done girls. 

Regional 4 In Age 

 We had three girls in this section, Lottie Pinchess, Maisie Axton and Hannah Knox. Starting on beam Lottie did have a fall however shook it off and stuck her free roll scoring 10.85 this was a good score for her. Maisie went through a routine nicely however did come to grief falling however composed herself and carried on scoring 10.15 Hannah like the others did experience difficulties also on beam however she pushed through until the end scoring 9.55. Moving onto floor the girls danced their way through Lottie battled her fear and competed her round off flick with confidence scoring her 12.15 this was a brilliant achievement for her. Maisie is still battling with her backward tumble so hesitated in between however got through all of her moves, scoring 11.15 Hannah danced her way though her floor routine showing off nice tumbles and leaps scoring 11.25 this was a good second piece for the girls. Moving onto range and conditioning all of the girls went through their routines really well without niggles Lottie scored 12.733 Maisie scored 12.0 and Hannah scored 12.333. Moving onto vault the girls performed a handspring flat back onto 120cm height the girls had to demonstrate power and dynamics throughout which they all did well, Lottie scored 13.2, Maisie scored 13.35, and Hannah scored 13.3 they all got some of the top vault scores of the day for their grade well done girls. Finally onto bars all of the girls went through cleanly performing nice high casts into their dismounts and good upstart floats to start off their routines Lottie scored 12.8 Maisie scored 13 and Hannah scored 12.733. All of the girls had a brilliant day Lottie scored 61.733 placing 2nd, Maisie scored 59.65 placing 9th and Hannah scored 59.167 placing 11th. All the girls passed their grades well done girls.

Regional 3 -In Age 

We had one gymnast in this age category Eve Milburn, this was Eve’s first grades competition so was a good experience for her, Starting on beam Eve went cleanly throughout her routine with only slight wobbles throughout she really held her nerve scoring 10.35. Moving onto floor Eve showed nice and powerful tumbles scoring her 11.65. Moving onto range and conditioning Eve worked hard throughout her routine remembering where to hold her elements scoring her 11.933 this was a great score for her. Moving onto vault performing a nice handspring over the vaulting table Eve had good push and flight throughout scoring her 13.1. Moving on to bars performing a routine with only a small extra cast on high bar Eve scored 11.467 This was a great competition for Eve scoring a total of 58.5 placing 4th and passing her grade well done Eve.

Regional 3 -Out of Age 

We had two gymnasts in this category Maisy Gardner and Emily Price. Both starting on beam Maisy went through her beam cleanly with hardly a wobble in sight scoring 12.55 Emily did experience some difficultly throughout her routine however stayed confident throughout scoring 10.6. Moving onto floor Maisy went through a nice tidy routine scoring 11.9 and Emily showed off her dramatic routine with clean tumbles throughout scoring 11.25. Moving onto range Maisy unfortunately had a couple of mistakes throughout her routine scoring 8.7 Emily went through her routine fighting hard for her handstand scoring 10.567. Moving onto vault bot girls performed strong handsprings Maisy scored 13.0 and Emily scored 12.75 Moving onto their final piece bars both girls got through their routines without stopping and nice and flowing throughout Maisy scored 12.533 and Emily scored 12.133 Both of the girls had a good competition and both passing their grades. Maisy scored 58.683 placing 10th and Emily scored 57.3 placing 14th well done girls. 

Regional 2 -In Age

We had one gymnast in this age group which was Eden Dickens her beam routine started off confidently however she did come to grief falling a couple of times throughout her routine however she shook it off and finished her dismount with only a small step, Eden scored 9.3. Moving onto floor Eden showed off that she could dance and had super strong muscles fighting to stay standing after her handspring front which is a move she has struggled with and proved she can do it scoring 9.65. Moving onto range and Eden worked hard throughout her routine scoring 9.7 Moving onto vault which is a good piece for Eden performing half on half off she nailed it with only a small step on landing scoring 12.8. Finally onto bars performing a muscle endurance routine very cleanly Eden scored 12.367 a few mistakes throughout the day however a good result in the end Eden scored 53.817 placing 8th

Regional 2 -Out of Age 

We had one competitor in this age group Sophie Lees, Starting on beam Sophie went through a nice routine with a few wobbles here and there Sophie scored 10.25 Moving onto floor Sophie had worked hard also at her handspring front salto tumble and nailed it in her routine scoring 9.7 this was a good achievement for Sophie. Moving onto range and conditioning Sophie has been working hard on this routine in the gym and it shown in her competition a nice controlled routine scored her 12.567. On vault Sophie performed a strong half on half off showing nice shapes in the air scoring 12.65 this was a good score for Sophie. Finally onto bars Sophie went through a clean bar routine with no stops scoring 12.433. This was a good competition scoring 57.65 placing her 5th. well done Sophie.

Regional 1 

We had one gymnast in this category, Jessica Davie starting on beam Jess had a very steady start sticking her flick and spin however come to grief on her turning w-jump however shook it off and finished her beam routine scoring 10.2. Next onto floor Jess produced powerful multiple flicks and different saltos including a straight front which is new for Jess, she scored 9.75. On to range and conditioning Jess kept her cool throughout the routine and showed off her flexibility in her splits scoring 11.533. Next onto vault Jess performed a nice clean vault with only small steps on landing scoring her a nice and high 12.75. Finally onto the last piece of bars, Jess went through a clean bar routine with no stops keeping her legs straight and nailing her landing Jess scored 11.9 giving her a total of 56.133 placing 2nd overall well done Jess.

Round up

All girls passed their grades which is an excellent result for the gymnasts, coaches and the club. We have got 3 gymnasts in the national team and 1 reserve. We received a few medals too ! Good work team !
