This years recreational championships was a great success! As previously the age groups are split up into 3 groups depending on what routine the gymnast wishes to compete in A,B or C. All the gymnasts had a great day performing their floor routines and their choice of vault. We got to see variations from stretch jumps all the way up to handsprings which was really good to see.
Along side this competition for the first time we had a group of children working from the DSIG rules (Down Syndrome International Gymnastics Organisation) the gymnasts will undergo a national competition on the 6th of June which they have all been working really hard towards. They all performed really well for the crowd and we had two gymnasts performing to music for their floor routine which was a big step for them. All the gymnasts had a brilliant warm up competition ready for a few weeks time.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all of the helpers that came throughout the day to help out with refreshments, car wash, BBQ, coaching, judging, running and organising. A massive well done to the squad girls which turned up and gave the audience a display showing the variations of 7 year old – 13 year old’s.
