What a fabulous competition for our down syndrome gymnasts, such a successful day even meaning two of our girls have now qualified for worlds held in Milan!!!!!!!
The group coach Rachel Hewitt has this to say about today’s competition (6/6/15)
Coalville gym club had a truly amazing day having 6 gymnasts compete in the Down Syndrome Championships today.
For Alice this was her first ever competition, lining up feeling very nervous and had a set of stunning results going clear on all pieces!
Grace has competed a couple of times now and kept a strong nerve showing execution is what gymnastics is all about.
Both of these lovely ladies winning medals and qualifying to go to the Worlds later on this year! (Milan here we come!)
The younger group competed at level B on all apparatus and behaved impeccably in a long set of rounds going on longer than expected! This energetic lot being Lily, Toby, Callum and Riley. All won lots of shiny medals so have gone away very happy!
Watching these children grow and develop physically has shown all the hard work pays off! It really is rewarding for me in so many ways but i am not a one man band and i have a fabulous team of ladies behind me! A big thank you to Hollie & Gail. Also Emma for her brilliant floor routines.
Finally i would like to thank a very special person Miss Karen Edwards! She is our amazing head coach that has come on this journey with me for many years! Starting very early on with my own daughter, being there to answer my questions on codes and moves- but most of all helping me follow the dream of having gymnasts competing in disability gymnastics!
