Malta 2017

Malta 2017 -

Malta was a great experience on all levels taking the most gymnasts we have done in the past was certainly a handful.

Charlotte Abell, Sophie Winfield, Emily Pike, Emily Price, Ruby Weston, Charley Kirk, Brogan Hardwick, Evie Axton, Daisy Greaves, Madison Jurkowski, Abi Barham, Mae Wilkinson, Lottie Pinchess, Eden Dickens, Megan Braitwaite, Jessica Pole and Bethan Dodds

Coaches- Karen Edwards, Jemma Thompson, Steve Alexander, Karen Tymm and Emma Kirk

Judge – June Edwards

This time the venue for the competition changed to a bigger arena allowing more girls to attend the competition and have more space when they are competing this was grear for the girls to get out of a “gym” and into a competition arena which was the first time for many of them.

Friday – Podium training, this training is different to what we are use to back home and the girls have to make sure they get done what they need to in the time allocated as there was no spare time for anyone and they had to move round to the next piece rapidly. This was a hard session for the girls as we had only just landed that morning after travelling throughout the night so they all got through safely doing basic skills to get a feel for the apparatus.

Saturday – Competition day 1! Round 1 seen Ruby Weston, Charley Kirk, Brogan Hardwick, Emily Price, Eden Dickens, Megan Braithwaite, Bethan Dodds, and Jessica Pole take to the stage although not all having a clean competition all the girls go through the day and had a great experience, and for them their work was done! Emily Price picked up some medals in her age category which was fabulous and so did Jessica Pole! Round 2 was for Category B which was Emily Pike turn this wasnt the best day for Emily however she was there for the experience and the opportunity to compete which she did with a smile. Well done Em.

Saturday afternoon/evening – consisted of pool time, ice cream and tanning time !

Sunday- Competition day 2 – Charlotte Abell, Madison Jurkowski, Abi Barham, Evie Axton, Mae Wilkinson, Lottie Pinchess, Daisy Greaves and Sophie Winfield. It was a great competition for the girls all having a good day with only minor mistakes throughout. Charlotte tsuked in competition in the first time in a year or 2 which was a great achievement for her. Sophie brought home some apparatus medals and all around medal which was a great end to the weekend.

Sunday evening – COMPETITION FINISHED! Sunday evening was the farewell BBQ which was in a gorgeous location where the girls were celebrating their achievements and telling stories of their experience. After food the girls danced the night away giving out souvenirs to different gymnasts from different clubs and countries as mementos to keep which was lovely to see them all mixing with different gymnasts from different places.

Monday- Water park day ! The girls were officially on holiday enjoying themselves down slides in pools, lazy rivers and off the diving board in between that a spot of sunbathing.

Tuesday – Home time- after a fantastic time away its time to come home and back to reality what a fab time away and great experiences for all gymnasts and coaches.
