Code Of Conduct For Parents + Guardians

Code of Conduct

For Parents / Guardians

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and participate within them.
  • Always ensure your child has plenty to drink and is dressed appropriately for the activity with no jewellery, tidy hair and training attire as agreed with the coach.
  • Keep the club informed if your child is ill and unable to attend sessions.  Please ensure if absent due to diarrhea and vomiting your child does not return to the gym within 48 hours of the last time they had symptoms.
  •  If anyone in your family has COVID symptoms, gymnasts MUST not attend training and must self isolate for the recommended amount of time.
  • It is your responsibility as parents or guardians to see that gymnasts arrive in good time for training sessions and competitions.
  • Inform the club when your child will be late for training or a competition.
  • Parents must familiarize themselves with Coalville Gymnastics Club’s Social Media Policy – need to find it!
  • Leave the coaching to the coaches. Parents should not pressure their children, offer coaching advice or try to change or undermine any goals agreed between the coach and gymnast. It is the coaches’ role to offer constructive advice relating to the gymnast’s performance. It is helpful if parents can offer the support and encouragement necessary to help their children feel good about themselves
  • Parents must observe and abide by rules stating which areas are out of bounds at competitions.
  • Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly.  Failure to do so may result in withdrawal of membership and exclusion from training
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Set a good example by recognising good sportsmanship and applauding the good performances of all.
  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Publicly accept officials’ judgments. Challenging /arguing with officials is not acceptable.
  • Coaches are not allowed to analyse and discuss competition performances with parents on the day.  If you have any concerns please raise these before the next training session, as feelings can run very high on the day of competition.
  • Endeavour to establish good communications with the club, coaches and officials for the benefit of all.
  • Share any concerns or complaints about any aspect of the club through the approved channels, mainly our nominated Welfare Officer.
  • Always use correct and appropriate language .
  • Never punish or belittle a child for poor performance or making mistakes.
  • Always collect your child promptly at the end of a session.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.
  • Parents are not to talk in a negative manor about other members of the club
  • Parents are to respect the coach’s decisions about their gymnast and any questions or queries can be taken up with the head coach or welfare officer
  • Parents are not to enter the gymnasium until further notice due to the current COVID-19 pandemic
