Leicestershire All Round & Individual Apparatus 2013

Well, what a brilliant competition Coalville had this Sunday (16/6/13) as a club we had 32 gymnasts compete in the different levels and come back with 94 medals all together! This was a brilliant result both gymnasts and coaches showing that the hard work is paying off.  There was no all around results for the level 5 category as there is a competition later on in the year for that.

In the in age level 5 category we had 3 gymnasts competing on all pieces of apparatus, this was the girls first chance to show their individuality and what they can do. Lottie showed off her upstarts on bars and her cartwheel tuck back dismount off beam. Maisie showed her powerful vault and her round off flick on floor and Hannah performed her handspring over the vaulting table and her round off flick on floor also. This was a good competition for these young competitors and being the only 3 in In Age level 5 they took home 4 medals each.

Level 5 age 9/10 – We had two girls in this category Jessica and Megan both performed very nicely throughout the competition both of the girls got to show off their new floor routines that they have received and new beam routines also. Jessica did a very clean bar routine linking it all together giving her a bronze medal on them, where Megan dazzled the audience and judges with her new floor routine earning her first place.

Level 5 age 11 + over- We had 3 girls in this category Maddy showed a beautiful clean bar routine which had upstarts on both bars giving her a bonus for each this gave her an advantage which lead her to the top spot on bars, Georgie showed us why she received the floor award last year at our annul awards and took gold with a very expressive routine and performing her round off flick, she also kept her balance on beam which gave her second place on that apparatus also. Emily is a more experienced gymnast with us did a clean competition going through her bar routine nice and smoothly giving her 2nd place and then after performing a solid beam routine with full requirements gave her gold!

Level 5+ age 9- This level has been in the region for 3 years now and is there for gymnasts who are in between level 5 and level 4, this level gives the gymnasts the chance to do harder skills on beam in comparison to level 5 but requirements are not as hard as level 4. In this level we had 3 gymnasts Amber took the advantage of being able to do a salto on floor and performed her new floor routine with a tuck back in it this gave her joint gold on the floor, on the beam she kept her cool and got a bronze medal on the bars she managed to tackle both upstarts and moved out of them smoothly giving her a linked routine, this then again like floor gave her joint gold on bars, she also showed a confident vault giving her a bronze on that apparatus too. Abi showed off her new floor routine and showed off her front salto also, this gave her joint gold with Amber, on vault she showed how springy she can be and took silver, moving to bars she had both upstarts and kept it flowing giving her joint gold with Amber again. Alice showed off her new floor routine with her tuck back, managing to get over her troublesome vault with a breeze and got through her bar routine with a little hick up she then moved to beam being the only one with a flick in her beam routine gave her a bonus, she stuck the routine and took gold by 0.9!

Level 5 + age 10/11- We had two gymnasts in this competition a very experienced Eden and a new member to our club Dalila. On vault Eden took full advantage of her speed and flew over the vault this giving her 2nd, her floor routine with her tuck back in and front salto gave her the bronze medal. Her swingy bar routine showed that this is her best piece giving her first place. A very steady beam routine with no falls placed her in second. Dalila has only been at the club for a couple of month and just getting over a broken knuckle was over the moon to be able to compete. Flying over the vault gave her the bronze medal on floor she performed a newly learnt routine with a newly learnt tuck back and front salto placed her first, her bar routine only had one stop after only being back on the bars a few times after her injury placed her second. Finally beam Dalila showed strong landing and a polished finish placing her first on beam also.

Level 5+ 12 and over – Sophie shined bringing home a medal on each piece her vault brought her home a bronze medal, having both upstarts in her bar routine gave her a bonus and again gave her a bronze medal, her beam went cleanly performing her cartwheel tuck back dismount giving her a silver medal, and on floor competing her tuck back for the second time showed more confidence this time taking home another silver medal. Nicole is known to be very powerful and it showed, her vault sprung off the top giving her a silver medal, her bars flowed with her upstarts and no stops giving her another silver medal and on floor showed off her explosive tuck back giving her another silver medal. Scarlett like Sophie had lovely technique in her vault giving her a joint bronze medal, her beam showed confidence with her backward walkover giving her another bronze medal. Scarlett then performed a new tumble in her routine which was the tuck back this then earning her a gold on this apparatus. Hannah is another very experienced competitor at Coalville showed a powerful vault with few steps on landing, her bar routine moved smoothly giving the judges little to deduct, her beam showed her experience with very little wobbles and good finishes giving her gold on this.

Level 4 age 10/11- We only had Julia in this age group category however from this level upwards it was all around as well as individual apparatus. On vault Julia managed to nail her new vault of the half on half off placing her second, on bars she had a small stop on the low bar but carried on a very clean routine placing her second, on beam she had full requirements but did occur a fall however this did not stop her getting gold on this apparatus. Moving onto floor Julia performed her floor routine for the second time this year getting gold again, as a whole Julia was crowned the Level 4 age 10/11 Leicestershire Champion.

Level 4 aged 12 +- We had two competitors in this age category, on vault Danielle performed half on half off and nailed the landing well, on bars she performed her giants into backaway very cleanly earning her the bronze medal, she then performed a clean beam routine with full requirements placing her first by 1.55 then moving to floor Danielle performed her new floor routine for the second time going through cleanly giving her the silver medal, this also placed Danielle 1st overall making her Leicestershire level 4 age 12+ champion. Hannah was also in this category and this was her first time of competing at level 4 her vault showed great power and small movements on landing giving her the bronze medal, she can 4th on bars after performing a very clean bar routine, finally on floor she got to show off her new routines with a new tumble of a straight back full twist, this gave her an edge and placed her first on the floor.

Level 4 In Age- We had two competitors at this level Madison and Mae, these are the only two which competed in this age group in Leicestershire. Starting on vault both being powerful gymnasts, Madison showed excellent push off the vault giving her first place, moving onto bars Madison swung nicely throughout the routine trying to meet her casts that are required this gave her silver on this piece of apparatus, moving onto beam Madison had full requirements for this level however did experience an unfortunate fall however even with this took gold on this apparatus. Moving on to floor Madison got to show off her new routine with new tumbles such as front salto walkout and straight back her power come in very nicely and placed her first on this apparatus as well. Mae had a very powerful vault scoring just 0.05 under Madison placing her second on this piece, moving to bars Mae went through very cleanly and nearly made handstand on the high bar, this showed and placed her first, moving to beam although Mae didnt have the full acro requirement she did have a very unusual planche this skill requires extreme strength and is rarely seen at this age group. she did experience a fall throughout this routine however managed to get joint gold with Madison on this apparatus. Moving to floor Mae like Madison had new required tumbles of front salto walkout and a straight front her routine gave her the silver medal. As an overall competition Mae just pipped Madison by the closest scoring of 0.05!!! Giving Mae the title of In age level 4 Leicestershire champion. With Madison in second.

Level 3 in age- again we only had two gymnasts in this competition and they were the only two gymnasts in Leicestershire in this competition. Starting on floor Emily showed her experience with her floor routine showing off the dance and performing a new tumble of a straight front landed well gave her first place on this apparatus, moving on to vault she then flew over with her handspring barely placing her hands on the vault at all, this giving her gold, on bars where Emily feels at home, level 3 requires only high bar which was different to her previous competitions however took it in her stride performing a beautiful routine with less then a mark in deductions giving her gold again. Moving on to her nightmare piece beam however with a new mount and a flick to two Emily stuck her beam this in a competition is make or break giving her gold on all four pieces and then crowned all around Leicestershire level 3 in age champion. Madison performed her floor routine with a new tumble of a full twist landing it with just a few steps back and a beautiful new leap series, this gave her second place, moving on to vault she performed a handspring which had a good second flight off and nailing the landing giving her second place. On bars she was just short of her handstand however her giants swung round the bar nicely again placing her in second. Finally beam Madison had new skills in her routine to try out however her sore ankle got the best of her giving her a few falls however she managed to compose herself enough to stick her standing tuck back which was a massive achievement, this gave her silver and silver all around.

Level 3 age 11 + 12- We had two competitors in this competitions however due to injury Jess only competed on two pieces of apparatus taking her out of the all around competition. Chloe started on vault performing a very clean half on half off giving her bronze, on bars she he performed very cleanly with no stops giving her bronze again, on floor she had the chance to show off her routine for the second time with her full twist in it showing confidence throughout placing her 1st on floor and for all around she placed 3rd. Jess only competed on bars and beam, on bars she went through the routine with high casts and pointed toes giving her the silver medal on the piece, moving the beam Jess had all the required elements and showed clean lines throughout her routine placing her 3rd on this apparatus.

Level 3 age 13+- We had Ellie and Honor in this age both of these competitors are very experienced and have high team spirit with each other Ellie performed a very clean and good landing half on half off vault giving her the bronze medal on this apparatus, she went through a tidy beam routine with a new mount placing her 1st on beam. Her bars went through cleanly placing 4th on floor she fought hard to stay on her feet for her straight front full twist and come away with a silver medal. From this Ellie was then crowned Leicestershire’s level 3 age 13+ Champion. Honor performed a clean vault with a popular score of 11.60 placing her in triple 4th! her beam routine showed a new mount same as Ellie with the handspring to sit from the side of the beam, she also performed her troublesome flick. Moving to floor Honor performed a very clean full twist with an experienced routine showing off her beautiful leaps and her split change to ring.

Level 2- we had 3 gymnasts competing in this level Sophie, Ebony and Charlotte, Ebony did not compete all 4 apparatus due to injury so was not eligible for an all around ranking. Sophie competed her half on half off on the vault coming 4th, she then performed a very clean and tidy bar routine with her short clear placing her 3rd, on beam she did experience some wobbles however managed to stay on, She then competed her new floor routine showing off brilliant choreography placing her first. Charlotte performed her tsuk for the second time sticking it well placing her 3rd, then moving to bars she nearly come to trouble out of her short clear to handstand but managed to pull it back and finish off a nice and clean bar routine. Beam went through cleanly and only small wobbles throughout and then on floor she performed a successful straight front full twist which was a big moment for Charlotte and finished off her routine nicely. Ebony performed a clean bar routine working on her shapes throughout, then performing a clean beam routine with her standing tuck back placing her in 4th place missing 3rd by 0.15! finally on floor Ebony had a very difficult new skill of a double back salto this has a very high value and takes great technique, when warming up Ebony nailed it perfectly however unfortunately in competition she landed just short which was very unfortunate for her,

FIG- We only had Layla in this competition and she did not compete on the vault which ruled her out of the all around competition. on bars Layla performed her bar routine which seemed to be going cleanly however had a slight hick up on the transfer in between bars, however even with this she got joint gold, moving onto beam Layla come to grief with some of her skills however managed to perform a beautiful full twist dismount placing her in 2nd, on floor like Ebony Layla was attempting the double back salto again like Ebony nailed it in warm up however gave it a bit too much power in competition and over rotated, however she then finished off her floor routine with a beautiful double twist nailed with no movement! this gave her a silver medal also.

A massive well done to all gymnasts that competed and a massive well done to all coaches who got the gymnasts to the level that they needed to be. Also a massive thank you to all the parents for the support you show your gymnasts at the competition and help keep the club spirit going !
