As many past gymnasts would have known our floor was not the bounciest floor in the region and many gymnasts did start to struggle when training on it. After having the floor for over 11 years the coaching team and the committee both agreed that a new floor would benefit all members of the gym club.
From the decision of yes our next step was to then pick a company to buy the floor from. Giving that most of the competitions that our gymnasts compete at the floor they compete on is a continental sport floor which is why we made the decision to then purchase the floor from them. Knowing that the floor was going to cost in the region of £20,000 as a club we needed to do a lot of fund raising in order to reach the desired amount. We as a club did events like a cake sale, car wash, summer fair and many more in order to get the money together.
The floor then arrived end of July and since then they gymnasts have loved being on the floor! Being able to do their tumbles on the floor is better for mental preparation before competition knowing they can do the skill on a competition floor.
As a club we would like to thank Continental Sport for fitting the floor and also a massive thank you to our Committee members and our Chair Person and spouse for all their hard work in order to get the floor down in time for the new competition season to start.
